Astrology 101, The Third House
I know, I know, it’s been a long time since the last lesson, but you can pick right up where you left off by reading the posts under “Brigid Bishop on Astrology”. Sorry for the delay, but it’s been a crazy summer!
The Third House in your Natal Chart is the house that will define your psychological and emotional tendencies in regard to primary education, the external influences around you, your ability to learn (what kind of an I.Q. do you possess?), your thought processes, both positive and negative, your verbal communication style, your attitude and relationships with any siblings you may have, and your interactions within your community.
In our example we are using a Rising Sign (First House) Gemini, Second House Cancer, and so it follows, our example will discuss a Third House Leo.
With the fiery sign of Leo ruling the example third house, this individual will expect to command attention and respect whenever speaking, writing or teaching. These individuals are natural teachers and communicators, taking the lead verbally, unafraid to issue orders.
Third House Leos will often be “the baby” of the family, even if not the youngest, when interacting with siblings, and will regress to this type of behavior whenever in a family setting or at a family gathering.
Leo Third House will have been an excellent student during the years of their primary education, and, if they did not grow bored with organized education, they are likely to be highly educated, at the very least, extremely intelligent. Many Third House Leos belong to Mensa.
Leo Third House is a bit self-centered in their thought process. Most thoughts revolve around how any given situation or individual will affect the Third House Leo, and unless progressed well, will not consider the greater good unless highly evolved.
Leo placed as Ruler of the Third House is likely to create a community leader, one who takes charge and is not afraid to delegate.
The positive side of this placement is an intelligent and articulate leader.
The negative side is that this placement can create a braggart who does little to live up to their self-imposed reputation as a leader. Planetary placements will affect this greatly.
At it’s highest evolutionary state, this placement will produce the leader that truly serves their people.
